I want to continue my college (university) education in the UK as an undergrad transfer student, but I feel like I'm digging through a sea of schools that I don't know much about. Would anyone know of any Universities which provide ample scholarships and/or aid to US transfer students, or are very affordable/good value in the UK? Thanks!

  1. Being an overseas student in the UK is very expensive (£8,000-£12,000 per year depending on the university/course). The cost of living is quite high too, when taking into account the $2=£1 exchange rate.

Universities in England have a greater pool of scholarship money, but Scotland has a great opportunity for graduates of Scottish Universities who wish to stay in Britain after graduation.

I, personally, found my studies easier in Britain than in the States, but don't let that be a deciding factor for you. They are very different grading schemes (80% is an A and 50% is still passing).

If you get in contact with the British Council, they should be able to give you more information about being an American studying in the UK and the processes involved with transferring.

The one advantage that the UK has over the US is that there are no application fees for university, so apply to all the schools you are interested in attending and see which will give you the best deal/opportuinity!
