  1. A baby sitter would be classified as a household employee.  Their wages are not subject to Social Security unless the employer pays $1,500 per year.

  2. The person who employs you should be deducting taxes and social security from your pay.   Check out online irs.gov

  3. I assume you working for yourself (Sole-Proprietorship).

You may want to talk to someone at the IRS and get some information as to what you doing. They used to offer a free class from time to time to help people going into business know what tax forms they needed and how to prepare them.

I tell a simple, but, not promise it completely correct.

You fill out your regular 1040  Form and also a 1040 Schedule C  "Profit and Loss".

In the 1040 form there a place to figure your Social Security and you send them a check. Remember you pay the whole amount! Also keep very good records of this stuff, at least until you retire.

When you work for someone they pay 1/2. When you work for yourself, you pay it all.

  4. File quarterly estimated payments with form 1040ES.  Then at the end of the year, file a 1040 with a schedule C or C-EZ, and a schedule SE.
