  1. thedecostop.com

  2. try www.primescuba.com they have a huge selection and the best pricing and they will help you with anything good luck

  3. thedecostop and scubaboard are two very good message boards.

Be warned, the many of the posters on these two boards are "beyond recreational" divers.  Some (not all) of the posters will have a serious bias towards anyone that is not certified by <insert name> agency.  They will still give good information, but don't be scared off by their bias.

For buying gear, you need to first establish what type of diving you will plan to do.  Buy gear related to that.  Here is an example of two extremes:

Warm water vacation diving is probably the basis for how you were taught to dive.  There is nothing wrong with the warm water vacation gear, it is probably what 99% of the divers in the world use.  It is safe gear for this type of diving.  I would never use this gear in a cave nor would I dive with anyone wanting to wear this gear in a cave.

The opposite it ok.  You can wear cave dive gear in warm water vacation locations.  It would be serious overkill, but there is nothing wrong with it.

Buy gear that targets the type of diving you want to do now and over the next five years.
