I am a beginner golfer. I found a set of Slazenger Philosophy women's clubs for $300...is this a good idea?

Personally, I would say no. Slazenger is not the best brand, and the cost of the set is rather high. I would hate to see you spend that much on a set of clubs that you won't enjoy. Continue looking, because there is a lot out there. The best way to find a set that is right for you, is to go to a golf store around you. They can see how your swing looks (even though you are a beginner), and make sure that you are getting the right set. And I am pretty sure you can get a set cheaper, or if not, you can get a set 3X better for close to that cost.

You can get a cheaper set then that and a better brand..... unless your left handed and short (If your super short or super tall you might need a club to be cut down or adjusted) like myself you can pick up a good set for like $100.00 until you find the set you really really want.  Try wholesale places like BJ's and Sam's club or Coscto.  I know someone who got a really good discounted set at BJ's for $100 and d**k's wanted $500 for the same set.

Oh, also check ebay- sometimes people sell their used set CHEAP!  I was looking on there but being left handed- it was rare to find a use set.
