  1. Ok. What you're talking about doesnt have anything to do with your vocal chords.  What it is is where the air you are using comes from.

The way you do a cheerleading yell is by making it come from your stomach instead of your throat.

Take a breath in and tighten your abs while you shout out.  I don't know how else to describe it except for that you push the air out using your stomach muscles and not your throat.

It helps if you practice lying down on the ground and putting your hands on your stomach (but not pushing it or anything, just feeling it so you can feel it should be moving as you push the air out).

I have a really high pitched girly voice but I can still do a deep loud cheerleading voice by using my stomach instead of my throat.  And it shouldn't hurt your vocal chords, if it does you're not doing it right.

  2. The pitch of your voice is determined by your genetics which determines how thin or wide your vocal chords are. You cannot change that. So the only alternative is to use what you have.

Unfortunately, the only thing you can do is learn how to control you vocal chords. Screaming will only tighten the chords and made your voice higher. Screaming until youre hoarse, isn't a good thing to do medically speaking.

    Try this:

Lay on your back, relax, and breath nice and easy.

Next, without trying for volume, hum for a minute, trying to go lower and lower as you go.

Once you find your lowest pitch that you can maintain with relative ease, say the alphabet letting your chords and mouth get used to the sound.

Now throw in the diaphragm, breathe in so you feel your stomach rise and repeat the alphabet with more volume without changing how you said it before.

When you can go through the alphabet with volume using the lower tone of voice, start practicing it standing up.

Remember, you might get a little change but you are stuck with what you have.

  3. You can't really "deepen" your voice without causing a lot of damage to your vocal chords.  The depth of your voice depends on the frequency at which sound travels through those chords - it's different for everyone.  Please don't do anything to damage them, you could end up with pretty severe medical problems.

Do you mean deepen your voice - like being able to speak in a lower pitch - or do you mean to be able to project your voice - like having people at the back of a stadium or gym be able to hear you?  There are exercises you can do to increase the *projection* of your voice, which would help you in cheering.  Your drama teacher or your cheer coach will be able to help you out with them.
