  1. Your mom must have been in pain when the Passport came out

  2. Hello Grouchie,

Don't take on so Sir, if you are coming to Ireland, bring your UK passport, we don't mind and the prots are the only people interested in seeing it anyway, and hey will allow youi to enter our country without it but do have some kind of Photo ID just so we know who we are talking to. if you are leaving the UK take your passport, we will even stamp it for you so you can look back and remember all the great times you had in IRELAND, and you might want to stay among us for years and years, you would be most welcome, after all we have a saying here in Ireland, that a stranger is a friend you have not even met yet, so come on friend and let's all meet you... Happy trails to you, and may the wind be always at your back... Tony M

  3. What is it with this question????????? How many times must it be answered????

You do not need a passport to travel between the UK and the Republic of Ireland.

Some airlines may insist on you having a passport before letting you board their plane.....but that is a different matter.

  4. You need a passport for that, some airlines accept a photo driving license i think although maybe they've stopped doing that now so take the passport.

  5. No, but ID is, and a passport is the best form

  6. Not necessarily a passport but you do need some form of photo id, such as driving licence, student card, employee card, etc... or just bring your UK PASSPORT.

  7. Yes because The Republic of Ireland (Eire) is and has been since 1922 a totally separate state and is not part of the U.K.

  8. I trust your flying? Bring your passport, driving photo licence is usually sufficient but some airlines have been known a bit fussy.

I note from your question that you were "born here with a passport". My girl was born 7days ago, a passport never came out! :-)

  9. Yes. The Republic of Ireland is *nothing* to do with the UK.

And Simon J (below) is thinking of travel to Northern Ireland.

  10. if you are travelling from the UK no you wont need a passport at all but it is better to take some form of photo I D depending on how you are intending to get to Ireland

  11. I travelled by boat and they never required my passport.

  12. No. There are no immigration checks between Eire and the UK. However, depending on the mode of transport, you may need to take photo id.

  13. simpley, no.
