I have danced for 11 years now, and I'm fairly good at technique, only I don't look that great aesthetically because of my flat feet and BENT LEGS. I have tried so hard to straighten my legs all the way, but the farthest they will go is still slightly bent at the knee, making it look like I'm not straightening my legs. Does anyone else have this problem? What exercises can I do to help it, or should I see a therapist? Also, is this actually called hyperextension? (Only opposite of what we usually think is hyperextension)

  1. Your problem my be physical. Have you seen a orthopedic yet? 11 years of danced would have at least have your knees straight with the right techniques. Since it is not the case, to follow any others suggestion might hurt you more. Hyperextension is when your knee goes backward beyond the straight alignment. Go see a specialist to be sure, so you would know how to do it the right way. If your knees won't completely straighten, just do with what you have, and enjoy the fact you can still dance. Dance to enjoy!

  2. It may just be a physical thing and you mayu never be able to straighten your legs fully so don't force it. I would advise you to see a specialist.

    Good Luck!
