  1. if you can ride half pipe, yeah

  2. no, because its two totally different sports but don't get discouraged keep surfin bro...

  3. This experience will give you the upper hand when learning to surf, although as stated above you will still need to learn how to catch a wave. Any previous board riding experience will always help with a new surfer. You will, however, need to work on your upper body strength, to improve your pop up onto the board as this needs to be one fluid motion. Your balance should be fairly strong on the board but you have to be ready for the changing surfaces in the wave, and so you will need to develop a different sort of balance to snowboarding.

  4. Both activities require some good balance and flexibility. Beyond that, they are apples and oranges.

Surfing is an ocean sport, and requires ocean swimming skills. The ocean is not a pool, it has tricky rips, undertows, currents and big waves. After that, to be a 'real' surfer, you need to know  surf etiquette.

Athletically speaking, you need to catch the wave, as opposed to having gravity start you off down hill. Catching the wave can be one of the hardest things to learn.

With all that said, snowboarding must be really cool (not for me, however, snow is something I only like to see on Christmas cards), and I am sure that the conditioning and balance skills developed snowboarding sure can't hurt.

  5. in a way yes but you still need to learn how to catch the wave

  6. Surfing, windsurfing, skateboarding, and snowboarding have just about the same maneuvers, however in surfing, trying to stand on the board is the tricky part, the rest is just as easy as a snowboard.

  7. dont listen to anyone let me tell u..snowboarding & surfing totally different ..good snowboarder but surfing is hard because u have to fight the water...its harder 2 learn..& 2 actually get up on the surfboard ...u'll see

  8. yes, but surfing and snowboarding have different ways of moving the board. you'll just have to get used to it. snowboarding uses back foot, surfing front foot.

  9. no it wont, their almost complete opposites.  surfing requires catching the wave and lots more balance because water isnt solid like hard compact snow.  practice on small waves and gradualy learn to get better...keep it real by skateboarding and snowboarding bro.
