  1. you need to see a professional diabetic educator, or at least a professional nutritionist.

  2. watermelon.. salads.. karela.. such stuff should be good for u

  3. You should have doubts. A lot of doctors are telling people to eat carbs and the like. Carbohydrates become sugar inside your body if not burned immediately. That right there should raise the red flag on what people are telling sick folks to do to themselves. I wish I could remember her name, but I saw a book by a female doctor who has in fact has tremendous success with treating diabetes and some people were left with no traces of diabetes left. I apologize for my forgetfulness in suh a delicate matter. But if you do the research you should be able to find her.

She as well as many other doctors are insulted and torn apart by the medical and scientific communityies stricly because of pride. People who spend a minimum of 8 years in school and some dedicating their entire lives to research are not the type of folk to admit they're wrong.

  4. I would advise you to see a professional nutritionist.  They will set you up en entire meal and workout plan, and cater to your needs and physical attributes.  Have you consulted a diabetic specialist yet?  They usually have nutritionists set up for you when you 1st are diagnosed!  It gets easier, dont worry!

  5. Stay with low glycemic foods which are foods that raise blood sugar levels slowly and also stay with you longer preventing cravings & are high in fiber.

    Just to get you started:

Bran, sweet potatoes, peas, beans, most fruits/nuts, plums apricots, peaches, mangoes, oranges, grapes & dark chocolate with at least 60% cocoa or higher, eat sparingly.

lean turkey, chicken & fish. steamed veggies.

Exercise at least 20/ 4x a wk. important for diabetics.

Go to Google and type in "low glycemic foods"  this site will help you understand the physiology of how foods work in youf body plus more about diabetes.  Also type in high glycemic foods, foods to avoid.

Stay away from empty calories: any soda, prepackaged foods, cookies, cakes, crackers, none of which provide you with any nutritional value except carbs and that is exactly what you don't want to eat.

The good carbs are listed above, and there are more.

Learn to cook for yourself, so you can take proper care of you,   This is really important.  If you do the cooking you can control what & how much of a ingredient go in that food.
