My question is, if my diabetes were to turn for the worst will my Medical needs and prescription drugs be met in China? Is their Medical capabilities equal or better than Western Countries such as United States/England, etc? Lastly, I know in Japan I could use my VA medical which would be free but I am not so sure in China. Is medical insurance expensive over there?

  1. If you have diabetes you may not be allowed to have a visa for teaching, you have to go through a medical test to get the proper visa and they will discover you have diabetes, so it may just be that you are denied a visa, the restrictions on visa have gotten very tight recently

there is great medical care here in Shanghai and the bigger cities like Beijing, Shenzhen and so on, so no worries about getting the proper meds, there is a hospital company that has two American hospitals here in China (One in Shanghai and one in Beijing)  Family United Hospitals

http://www.unitedfamilyhospitals.com/  and there are other countries that have joint venture hospitals as well

Traditional Chinese medicine is something you could look into, but you don't want to take to big of a risk with diabetes

you will not be able to use your VA coverage at a local hospital, the above hospital I mentioned you would have to talk with them directly about it, medical insurance is really not a big thing here currently you will need to get an international medical policy

  2. china has the cure for your diabetes. all natural medicines i assure you that and its not that so expensive because as ive told you they used natural methods. and you are going to teach english, by the way are you white? i mean, of american or british tongue? because if youre not, they will look down on you.

  3. I'm going to live in China for a year in a month, and I was there last summer (but thankfully didn't need a hospital). I have been told not to use Chinese hospitals, but rather Japanese or Red Cross ones (which are in most cities). They should have the drugs you need, but I'd suggest going to Beijing or Shanghai which will definitely have them. Get medical insurance before you go!!!! NOT in China. Talk to your doctor before you go, he/she will know more than anyone here.
