  1. No!

  2. i think they might find out for themselves by the writing

  3. I don't think it would go on a resume, but it might be something to talk about during an interview.

  4. YES. It's possible you could misread labels on drugs and that has potential for deadly consequences for patients. Sorry but it's an issue.

  5. While I would normally say no... i am also a nurse and all I can think of is medication errors and liability.  You CAN NOT be discriminated against for a job due to a disability. So keep that in mind!!Your honesty may be refreshing and a plan of action can be made to keep YOUR license and patients safe!! Hiding it may open you up to trouble later. Besides there is a nursing shortage going on out there!!!

  6. Only if you think it will affect your ability to perform your job. If you successfully graduated nursing school, they should only look at your marks and achievements.

  7. yes you really need to tell them so they are aware!

It would probably be a sackable offence if you didnt tell them and they found out

  8. Hi,

Yes because then they can give you extra support in your job if and when it needed. If you don't state it and an incident happens such as you find it difficult reading medication prescribed to patient and end up giving wrong one by mistake, you will be liable and get into a lot of trouble.

Listen be proud of yourself, you done well to pass your nursing course.

My little 7 year old nephew is dyslexic and very bright so don't listen to those calling you stupid, they have no brains themselves so guess you could call THEM stupid!

    Lx

  9. No.  Tell them in the interview.

  10. really up 2 personal choice depends how much it affects ur written work ? im guessing not that much if u mananged to study to become a nurse it wudnt bother me if i was hiring u so leave it out or put it in up 2 u

  11. sure you should any  place would be doing themselves a great favor to hire someone who has had to work exceptionally hard to obtain her nursing degree. you are very special and i think your motivation should be applauded.

  12. Yeah.....These days that would not knock you back at all. My partner suffers from it and has a problem talking to people on the phone and those in authority and i am trying to find out if they are linked so when he goes its pretty obvious he gets knocked back but if you have already worked as a nurse in the past then it hasnt held you back so i cant see a problem.

  13. no not at all........

  14. Most certainly.

  15. yes, I'm sure you know that being a nurse, you need to be able to read and write down information properly. You should tell them in advance

  16. It makes me cross that some people automatically think you can't read, or write just because you have dyslexia. As you know dyslexia affects each of us differently.

So well done on becoming a nurse, you obviously have met the competencies to become a nurse, and that is what employers will look for the qualifications, and you have completed your placement hours effectively.

DO NOT put on your resume that you have Dyslexia, doing that will put them off before they even finish reading your application and resume in full.

A letter of application and resume is a way to sell ourselves to a prospective employer. Putting anything on either of these will veto your chances of interview let alone employment.

I have dyslexia and have never put on my resume that I have dyslexia. If I am lucky enough to make it to an interview, I will then tell the interviewer that I have dyslexia and how it affects me, and what strategies I use to ensure my writing and spelling is legible.

  17. Yes.  It is important you tell  any furure employer because it could get you into trouble later for 'failure to disclose'.

Don't let it worry you too much!  My boss is dyslexic and he manages just fine.  Always be honest about it and try not to mind if some mistakes are funny to others...for most it is about the words...not you!

    Good luck!
