There is no asbestos report for this location at which we will be performing demolition work. The owner has the permit, however, does not have an asbestos report. Would my company be under any kind of liability to start the demolition work without the asbestos report?

  1. I would check with the local Building Code Official as it is their office that issues permits.  Ask if the job site you have been hired to demolish needs an Asbestos report.  Better to be cautious than get into the job and find out there is indeed Asbestos and have to stop work, have it properly removed, before completing the job.  Your time is your money, but even more important is your safety, that of your employees and those who live in the area.

  2. Thats a pretty jurisdictional question and the answer could vary widely city by city and county by county.

Your best bet is to call your local permitting office to be sure.
