okay i first noticed this in the 7th grade and then it became more noticable to people in 8th grade. i managed to hide it and not have anyone make any comments about it during my whole freshman year at high school but ive only noticed like 5 other girls who have this.. one including marykate olsen. its actually very noticable but i was wondering if theres any other girl out there with this problem and if so is this normal and is THERE PLEASE ANYTHING AT ALL TO DO ABOUT IT?????!!!!!!!!!! its really embarassing and i wish it would just go away!! =(

  1. The increase in the larynx of males at puberty  causes the prominence called the Adam's apple. That is why the male voice is hoarse compared to females.

But sometimes this happens in girls too. This can only make there voise a little hoarse and also th prominence can be unsightly with a lean neck.

Other wise it has no any significance.

    I am a medical doctor.

  2. all an adams apple is is an extra peice of cartilage. i dont really know what to tell you. as long as you are all girl in every other way than i wouldnt worry about it. if someone says something mean to you , you have to ignore it. ask your mom to take you to the doctor if it bothers you that bad but i dont think there is anything they can do about it, but they will maybe just make sure your hormone levels are normal and all that.
