  2. Hi Goalkeeper,

I used be to be a goalkeeper when I was younger and it is not an easy job. In regards to diving for the ball  get some of your team mates to throw a ball at different lengths so you have to approach it different ways. Additionally  get your team mates to throw it at different speeds and this practice will help get your timing right Ie the right time to start to dive. Also get an old soccer ball and bounce it against a wall  at different angles a little of the way out to allow for space for you to do a dive. Practice although sometimes a bit of a drudge will improve your skills. Your diving may be not that accurate yet but it will come in time as you learn to read the play of the game and the body language of your opponent as they are about to shoot.  In time you will be able to ascertain where a striker is about to aim by the way they lean their body/stance and point their boot.

In regards to penalty shots seek to see where the shooter scans his eye the most and try and remember if they took a shot in general play earlier.Did they aim for the left or right of you then?. Some players prefer shooting the same angle or kick again especially if they have had earlier success with it in general play. Also wear a bright colour top as subconsciously people aim at a bright colour top. Hence sometimes you see goal keepers wearing red or bright orange/yellow colours.

Well that's all I can think of and i wasn't a great player but enjoyed being goalie..One last tip perhaps get to the ground a bit earlier and look at the area in the front of your goal for rough patches or divots that may make the ball bounce an odd way. Happy keeping to you Crispo

  3. Just warm up before the match .. practice with your friend penalty shootout go to www.youtube.com just write in the search box Goal Keeper Tips or traning that will help u hopefully

  4. timing is the key for diving if you get that right its a save.
