I am a greencard holder ,not yet eligible to apply for citizenship .?

My brother ,who is in another continent wants to go to college in America.I intend to pay his school fees and living expenses.

Does anyone know if his college fees will be at International student rate or resident rate?

  1. he will be paying international student rates which means pretty much double what everybody else pays. There are certain states like Texas were if you have lived in the state for a certain amount of time and you graduate from a high school in that state you qualify to pay resident rates(my situation). your immigration status really has nothing to do with his financial aid situation unless you can somehow get him a green card. he needs a green card in order to pay resident fees. Most states allow you to start paying resident fees after a year or two but it really depends on what state and school you are attending. the university he is trying to attend should have all of this information and in most cases they have a special office that deals with international students. one piece of advice tough make sure the people that you are talking to know what they are doing because some schools tend to not know much about the financial aid part simply because they rarely have to deal with this kinda stuff.


  2. Maybe that depends if he can get a student visa or not. I'm not sure, but maybe he can get papers so he can study and pay as a resident.
