I am a guitar player wanting to learn keys. How hard is it to learn bass clef?

I can read treble clef, although not that well. My playing has always been mostly learning scales and chords and then by ear.

How does one go about learning bass clef for the accompaniment of playing keys? Do you read the two simultaneuously?

  1. Yes, you read them simultaneously.  Go to www.practicespot.com or a similar theory website.  Print yourself some worksheets (oooh - sounds like school!) or do some of the online drills.  I will tell you now - WRITING on a worksheet will teach you faster - do not make me explain all the brain function involved - I only have been teaching this since 1971, full-time.  Start NOW - by tonight, you will be good at this.
