I have my workouts down (running 3-6 miles twice a day combined with swimming and weight training) but i want to take it to another level by changing up my diet a little. I have looked into protein shakes, bars etc and i've found that for people my age i should try these

- Whey protein

- HMB

- Casein

Any information about the above mentioned or anything else that has worked for any long distance runner out there is gladly welcomed. (By the way i am 5'7" 130lbs if that is relevant )

  1. i think u should just stick to fruit. or just ur regular diet.Ü im also a long distance runner and all i do is eat healty.

  2. Your weight is perfect, not overweight or underweight for an average person .

However, for a runner, if you have a smaller body frame then you could lose weight. If your a medium/large frame then your perfectly perfect (if that makes sense).

My friends who run in college never really take in protein shakes or nutrition bars (except their occasional granola bars because they love nature valley).

Just eat healthy "regular" food: pasta, bread, fruit, etc...

You don't need all this artificial substances to perform better.

  3. I agree with the cook (i think I read his sn right.)

As it stands when I was running in HS and College TUES and THURS were days that I would Lift and run. Swimming for me was meant for Saturday evenings. Sundays were my rest Days. Also MON WED and FRI were the only days where I ran in the morning and afternoon.  So as it was said Moderation is key. I used Whey and it is good. Of course Fast Food, Chinese Food, and most other places that you eat out don't help. Try to have family, whoever cooks cook something healthy. Try to stay away from Red Meat (my opinion) Chicken is best means (my opinion),

So as long as your not eating too much "junk" food you would do fine. Oh! Soda's and other CARBONATED drinks aren't good. Gatoraide, Poweraide, WATER.

I never tried Casein? not sure what that is so I don't know.  My buddy says HMB helped him.

  4. I think your actually doing too much my friend. Your body needs time to repair, heal and grow. Doing that each day will damage your joints in the long term. Why not alternate it each day and maybe have a rest day now and again. You won't put weight on over night! Just be careful, it's all about moderation. Whey protein is great, I always use that after a session on the weights

  5. Eat organic and non produced foods and fruit and vegetables
