I am a high school senior in Florida and my dream is to work for NASA. What is the best way to get there?

I am going to go to a college in florida, but what major should I go for? I was thinking aerospace engineering, but i'm not sure if thats the best one.

  1. NASA is like most big aerospace corporations - a lot of different kinds of people work here.

    Aerospace Engineering is good, but many other kinds of engineering would be fine, too.

    What I really urge you to do is get an internship with NASA or one of the major contractors as soon as you can.  You won't declare an engineering specialty until your Junior year anyhow, so see if you can get a co-op placement or two prior to then.  That'll help you figure out what to specialize in.

    Remember - you don't have to work directly for NASA.  Much of the work being done on the Space Program is handled by contractors like Boeing, Teledyne Brown, Lockheed, ATK, etc.


  2. Go to nasa and ask. Get them to push you from the top back down to where you are now. This also gets your name on the actively seeking employment list.
