  1. check out NATS (National Athletic Testing System) they hold local high school combines and send results to college coaches nationwide.

My only connection to them is because my son played high school football and I stumbled on them googling. Coaches son did participate all through high school he is now with Cincinnati.

  2. Get good grades, take the right courses, get good SAT/ACT scores and work with your coaches.

Oh yeah, play football really really well.

Only 1 in 100 HS seniors who play football ever play in college.  Fewer than that actually get a scholarship.

  3. Well, hopefully, your coach will be doing some recruiting for you.  Usually, college coaches will call to high school coaches asking them for names of players that could continue to the next level and some basic information about them.  So, if you are good, your coach should be doing quite a bit of work for you already.  I was already getting letters from colleges when I was a Sophomore in high school.  If you are REALLY good, the D1 schools will find you and scout you...it won't be subtle, you'll definitely know if D1 schools are looking at you.

Now, if you are good, you will want to make a highlight video of yourself.  You can have someone else do it (like a professional photographer/editor or something), but it will be costly (I got an estimate of $250 when I was in high school which was way beyond what I could afford).  You could also make your own highlight tape which is what I did in high school.  It wasn't too easy, and it turned out very bad.  There was no way for coaches to tell which player I was; a video editor would put an arrow next to you or something like that.

Most colleges will ask for the video, but you can also just send the video at your discretion to colleges you are interested in.  Now, understand that in order to get a football scholarship, you need to get into a D-1A school which is very tough.  You can't be a walk-on...you have to sign a letter of intent and all that fancy jazz.  Some D-1AA schools will be willing to give you academic scholarships or extra financial aid if they want you to play football for them very badly.  It is highly unlikely for a D-II or D-III school to offer you anything like that (but it has happened).  D-II and D-III schools don't have athletic scholarships to offer, so don't expect anything from them.

So, basically, what I'm saying is for you to get a football scholarship, you need to be very good.  Just getting scouted by a D-1A school is a huge accomplishment.  If you are a freshman or sophomore, you have plenty of time to get your name out there and improve.  But, if you are a senior, time is running out.

I wish you good luck in your journey to get a football scholarship.  Remember to have fun while playing football; that's what it's all about!  Hope I was able to help!

  4. work VERY HARD.

    get VERY GOOD grades.

  5. theres not much you can do. sorry to bring it to you. the ONLY thing you can do, is go out there every game, play your heart out, and if people feel you're good enough..you will be recognized. just do what you have to do on the field, stand out from other players. make sure you're not "just another player on the team". be someone who is noticed and respected. someone who the team would choose to be captain. you'll be fine. just keep working hard.
