  1. it's great to have a job prior to moving here but that rarely happenes because employer usually want to have an interview with you and meet you prior to hiring. Check out monster.com or workopolis.com for job postings. Also there are a lot of employment agencies in Toronto that will look for a job for you.

Rent downtown can be pretty expensive but a little bit outside of the downtown core you can find bachelor's apartments that are around $1000 with utilities included. Check out renters.ca. (A small tip:Stay out of Jane and Finch area).

hope this helps, email if you need more info :)

Oh,and of course, bring warm clothes, winters in Toronto can get..well a little bit chilly.

Edit: i forgot to tell you to have money up front for first and last rent

  2. Have a few months extra rent money before you move here because it could take you a while to find a job.  My suggestion is see if you can find a job in your field prior to moving it will make your life a lot easier.

  3. Assuming you have gone through all the proper legal channels, what kind of job you can do is dependent upon your skill level, level of education, experience, whether there is a call for a particular job you're seeking and even what you want to do.

As for where to rent, well, that depends on what kind of income you have, which depends on what job you have which depends on what I wrote in the first paragraph.
