This might sound odd, but since this week is conference week at most schools, ask the principals if you can have brochures at the schools. I teach and have a lot of parents who ask me for recommendations all the time for their younger children. I used to tell them that I wouldn't recommend one place over another (since I didn't know the people at all the places), but I would tell them of places that I knew had openings.

I know this doesn't exactly come under what you're asking but i just want to know how you got into being a day care person because when I'm older i want to open my own day care centre and i don't have a clue how to go about it when i leave school! Please help! =)
