  1. At your second job.

  2. section 8 housing(HUD) or Social Servics. There are also places that charge you on a sliding scale.

  3. Many communities in the U.S. have an information and referral hotline sponsored by the United Way. Dial 2-1-1 on a landline phone, the person who answers the phone will be able to refer you to agencies and charities close to your home that can provide emergency assistance for rent and longer term assistance if needed. If you only have a cell phone, do a web search for 2-1-1 and your location.

Catholic Charities, Salvation Army, and Jewish Community services are three of the many groups in my community that provide this type of assistance.

  4. Salvation Army and DFACS or another local family and childrens facility. Also many churches help. I would go to The Church of Jesus Christ and Latter Day Saints, which is the Morman church. They will help you out a lot and they will also give you groceries. I hope that I helped and I hope that you find the help that you need. God Bless you and your children.

  5. Shut up Mike........sometimes it's not their choice their a single parent.....but don't hear you saying to the man to get a second job!!!!!

Ok.......sorry........people can just be so insensitive.....Call salvation army like the other person said.........human service agency.....don't know where your at but it's different for different areas........but also internet search for single mothers in your area & ask them too. good luck let me know how it goes.

  6. Call your children's school or the nearest school if your kids are preschoolers or the local Bd of Ed and ask how to reach the homeless students' laison and or school counselor either of whom should know local resources to help prevent homelessness or provide emergency shelter.

Check the White pages of phone book for United Way and ask if they have or know of a community info and referral line aka a help line.

Look in yellow pages under social service agencies and under churches.   Call the likely sounding social service agencies, call the nearest large Catholic church and ask for the St.  Vincent DePaul Society which is their help group.  Next in b orger of likelihood to help large Methodist, Baptist,. Presbyterian and Luteran churches.   Chances are no one place will have all the help you need but if you can get part in a few different pklace that may be enough to get the landl;ord to allow you to pay and stay.

As a general rule if your unpaid rent is over $1000 you would be better off finding another place unless you have a very flexible landlord who will take 1/2 the rent and let you pay an extra say $25-50 a week on the balence.

Dept. of Children and Family services (welfare) may know of some energency help as may the local economic opportunity agency.

  7. if you call center link they can give you rent assistance
