  1. I don't know why but good luck, I have a friend who's an olympic figure skater. He's awesome.

    :)

  2. it is good for your posture and will train you to be light and graceful with your moves. watch figure skating and ballet on tv. you will find many similar movements.

  3. It helps you with flexibility, position, jumps, and movement but my teach said that I could choose from ballet and gymnastics

  4. ballet works on posture, flexibility, and balance. It is everything skating needs, just not on ice.

  5. ballet really helps w/ balance and position on the ice. also flexibility.

  6. To get you balance on the stuff you are doing on the ice.It also helps for getting used to things as figureskating is kind of ballet on the ice.It makes you flexible and off ice help you practice things you are learning now without falling......i recommend jogging as well

  7. for flexibility, balance, presentation and figure

  8. they have EXACTLY the same concept; grace and beauty. i take figure skating and it helped me TREMENDOUSLY! you could also try Irish Dance.... though it's harder, it also works and people might not make as much fun at you! haha.... i do both! SO FUN!

  9. Gives you grace in your moves,

    helps posture,

    helps balance,

helps you feel more light and flowy in your moves...

    BEST OF LUCK! :P

  10. Ballet helps with your artistry and stamina. Every time you take a ballet lesson, it also makes you more agile and flexible. Ballet, even one lesson in your whole life, is key to a good figure skater. Dude, if you wanna move up, you gotta fight for it. And in your case, your fight is with ballet. Also, you could just take a dance lesson. Really your coach wants you to do the warm up for ballet on the barre because it really helps a ton!

    Good Luck In Ballet!

  11. I'm a girl and a female figure skater. I don't do off-ice stuff, but I really should because depending on the jumps and spins you do, ballet can get you very flexible with you legs as well as make you stronger. Start ballet.

  12. because you will get out of shape, and ballet is the closest practice to what you do.  You would be using the same muscles as you would on the ice.

  13. Ballet helps with balance and focus.  It also limbers you up.

  14. ok well I am a male figure skater too and I am VERY skilled. Ballet is s**y and you should be proud to take it. It helps a lot. Mabye you should do yoga or pilates or something. But don't be negative about it.
