I am a member of freecycle, How do I post something I need?

Sign in to the group.

Click on "Post" located on left side of page.

-On the first box, type in WANTED: Coffee Maker 76118 (put what you want to receive instead of Coffee Maker and your zip code instead of 76118)

-In the second larger box, type in something such as "If anyone has a coffee maker they no longer use, I certainly could put it to good use". (Do not give your address or phone # at this time)

Scroll down near bottom of page and click on Preview. This will show exactly what your message will look like. You can make any changes at this time by clicking of Modify.

When it looks ok, click on Submit.

It probably will take a while for your message to show up on the group because most freecycle groups are moderated. When it is approved by group moderator, it will be posted on the group site and an email will be sent to members including yourself.

If members have one for you, they will email you. You choose which one you want to receive. Just reply to the email they sent to you and ask when and where you can pick it up.  That person will email you back with info.  (Usually they set the item on their front porch for them to pick up).

If more than one person offers you a coffee maker, after you have picked up the other person's item, let them know that you already received one.

Then post a message to the group to let everyone know you got the item you requested.  In the subject line, type in RECEIVED: Coffee Maker 76118 (put the name of item you actually were wanting).

Send an email to your group (email address is [e-mail] -- you can find email address at the bottom of your group's Yahoogroup page), with your items to give away using the following format:

  [subject] OFFER:  widget (location)

  [body]  I have a red widget to give away. It's about 2" long and looks like new. Please email with the time you can pick up on Friday.

When people respond to your offer, choose a recipient, agree on a pick up time and place, give away item.  

Then, post another message notifying the group that the item was taken, such as:

  [subject] TAKEN:  widget (location)

  [body] Thanks for a fast pick up!
