I am a mid handicaper, I am in the market for new irons and like the cobra's, so many choices, fp's or S9's, 07 vs 08. There's a big price difference between 07 fp and 08 s9's prices. What's the best choice when money matter?

  1. In golfing technology, irons haven't advanced nearly as much as drivers in the past 10 years. You're probably better off getting a used set from 05 or 06, which could cost half as much as an 07 or 08 set.

  2. I loved the cobra's.  Had them for the last 10 years.  But I just got the Ping I10's....absolutely love 'em.  I still use the cobra 3 and 5 wood though.

  3. No matter what way you go, make sure that you get the clubs custom fit for your strengths and weaknesses. You could buy the best Cobra's out there but they could harm your game if you don't have the right shaft, lie angle, etc.

And I'd suggest that you look at clone golf clubs. I play a set of cobra clones and have been very pleased with them.

I think some believe that clone golf clubs aren't made well. This isn't true.

Why would you pay more if you could get the same quality and results with clones?

If you're not hung up on what logo is in your bag but like the look and feel of the cobra club heads, check out a cobra clone golf club.

    Best of luck.

  4. Don't be too quick to judge based on price. At the very least I would go to a sporting goods store that carries your clubs and swing them. d**k's has an area where you can actually hit balls indoors with the clubs. It's more important to get  a feel for the clubs. If the s9's are a better feel, they might be a better investment in the long run. I bought a set of Taylor Made Burner irons 8 years ago and I still use them today. It tightened my budget after I bought them but I've never regretted it. I'm about a 10 handicap in case you were wondering.

    Hope this helps!

  5. If money is a problem then I would go with the cheaper clubs, but if money isn't a problem then I would suggest that you go to a good golf shop or a good pro shop that has either a driving range or a golf simulator and hit both to see which clubs fit your game better. If these are the clubs you are lusting for then buy them, but I would suggest that you ask the Pro to recommend  maybe another manufacturer that would help you game better. Also do you know if you want steel or graphite? Try them both, one might have a bigger impact on your game. I hope this helps.

  6. The best choice is the one's you can afford.  You won't go wrong with either choice in my opinion.
