My question is, is there any organisation in Calgary that have volunteers who can take care of the kids for like two hours for me to drop the kids and attend some interviews? i am a nurse. Any information will help. Thanks in advance.

  1. If you are a single mom of 3, and an RN, and you moved to Calgary on your own with this crew, this part should be simple!  You go girl.  Call the RN Union - about time they earned their dues.

  2. Give these organizations a call and see if they can help.

    Best of luck to you.

  3. I'm not familiar with agencies in Calgary, but I'm sure you could look up a community resource centre and meet with them to discuss possibilities.

Another suggestion I can make is to find a church to join.  I started going to church a few year ago, and the people there are so supportive.  I'm also a single mom and this couple at my church just offered to send my kids to sleep-away camp for a week this summer!  It really gives me a sence of community and feeling of being loved.

  4. This may sound bad but have you applied for welfare - Alberta Works?   They would pay for your childcare so that you could go for those interviews depending on your financial situation.

Also, phone 211.  This is a general information number here in Calgary to help connect people with resources.  Also, the Women's Center (264-1155) may have some suggestions.
