I am a new golfer, and have been out 7 times. I was wondering if the Nike OSS irons could improve my game?

The Nike OSS were suggested to me by a guy at the course. I'm just looking to get a decent set of clubs around $450. Suggestions welcome.

  1. No, I have them and I love them but no clubs are that good were they can make you better. there very forgiving but still, get your basics down and wait a little longer before you decide to invest in good clubs

  2. play for a year or two before investing that kind of money in them ~!

  3. Check out the callaways ,..x-20s or even the cheaper x-18s in regards to game improvement irons.  Not much workability,,,.....but if you are a beginner workability isn't what you are looking for.

  4. LESSONS will help not new clubs.  Take it from someone who learned the hard way.  Your game will not improve dramatically with new clubs.  Fix the swing first and everything will fall into place.  Buy a decent set and you should be fine.  Don't get hung on up on the latest craze or brand.

  5. They are a very good set for just around $450.  If you have the money, go for it. Better than Ping or Titleist at the same price.

Will it improve your game?  Not really, but to learn with the right tools is important.

If you learn with inferior tools, you will never learn the right way.

  6. At just seven rounds (assuming that you have not spent seven months, seven year or seven decades on the driving range before those rounds, ) you don't yet even have a game to improve....

With that said, a good place to start is just any "super game improvement" irons that just feel good in your hands.  Try a boatload out at a local golf shop.  They all should be forgiving enugh that at least any near-off center shot will be close to fairway.  Wild shots will still go, well... wild.

The bigest improvements will come with hitting lots and lots of balls.  Depending on your own atheltic skills and more importantly, how well you are "in tune" with your body mechanics, either you can go it alone and develop your own swing - or get lessons.  BUT, always hit lots and lots of balls.

I took the former route, having been an competitive athlete in the past.  Around my 15th round, I hit under 100.  I have written several answers about my methods, so you can search to find them.  The lessons route is also very good, if your pro works with, not against your body's natural tendancies.  So, your mileage will vary.

Back to your Q... Go ahead and get a set of clubs, so that you can learn to hit them with your swing.   But they won't improve your game, that is up to you.

  7. To be honest I have  been using  the  same  golf  sticks  for  years  my  game  needs imporoving  so I  sort of  want  to enhance  my  game. I may buy something new as well. And it  like  everything  is  exspenisive,  I think that just  changeing  something like  that  does give  you a better  frame of  mind  I would   guess.
