Please help me. I can't seem to figure out how to cut fabric with a nap, when it's supposed to be cut on the fold. I don't want to ruin this beautiful piece of fabric. Thank you in advance for your help.

  1. Here is a link that should help explain it.  Usually, a pattern will say on the back if it is or isn;t suited for fabric with a nap.

It usually has a separate cutting layout for napped fabrics.

Visit a fabric store and ask to see a pattern with a nap layout similar to yours before you cut.

  2. When cutting fabric, the fabric should be folded lengthwise, with the selvages together.  When using fabric with a nap, the nap should always go in the same direction throughout the garment (from top to bottom, or bottom to top - personal choice).
