I am a photography student un Suffolk and would like to photograph allotments as part of a project.HELP!?

how would I go about this?

Are they public sites or would I need permission?

Who would I gain permission from?

  1. They are notoriously shy, allotments and don't like their onions captured for all the World to see. Talk to an owner down there and see.

I'd recommend in the first instance just wandering through the allotments and getting to know some of the holders and I'm sure they'd be delighted to help you out.  My dad was an allotment holder for donkey's years here in Norfolk and he would have been more than happy to chat to you and help you out.  Alternatively, contact the parish council in the village/town where you plan to take photos and see if they know any of the holders who would be willing to help.  I definitely wouldn't just wander on and flash your camera around though!

  3. Get in touch with the local Council office, they'll be able to help.

    It's best to run it by them and get their permission first rather than just enter the allotments and start snapping away.  

  4. If they won't let you then there is not A LOT you can do
