Question:

I am a pitcher. I can't extend my arm all of the way, what could be the problem?

I am 17. I have been a pitcher since I was 7. 3 years ago I realized that my arm cannot extend all of the way. My elbow is what is stopping it from straightening out. I do have pain on my inner elbow. I don't notice it when I am throwing, mostly from adrenaline, but I certainly notice it after I throw.

I have been pitching with my arm like this for a while, and I have continued to gain speed each year on my fastball (now 83-86). Because of this, I have no plans on taking a year off. I am in the year where I am getting scouted and it isn't an option to miss it.

So first of all, anybody know what the problem could be?

Secondly, is there any exercises that I can do to straighten it out?

Do you think that if I could get it straightened (no surgery) it would allow me to throw harder (more flexibility)?

Thanks

  1. well, i was a starter in my rotation, and i had the same problem.. Dont over do it, or youll throw out your humerus, like i did..   i ***** get my arm to extend, very hard to throw my knuckler and it made me mad!!.. made the curve a breeze though..lol

i didnt do much to my delivery bro, i just adapted to it, i would try SO hard to do like a punch motion, maybe to extend it more, but, no luck..

sorry, i still pitch like that and its worked wonders for me, since..im more of a deciever than an overpowerer..

exercise your jump off the mound, and followthru..

and just adapt man.. Hope i could help

    =)
