  1. I had students use a shoebox to make a diorama about a particular season, storybook, or  using their own imagination.   It just depends if this is a one time project or if you want something for them to keep on using.

  2. I painted a shoe box to look like the sea, cut a slit in the top, cut out pictures of fish. placed a magnet on string attached to a Popsicle stick and one on the fish, and had the children catch the fish inside the shoebox.

  3. does it need to be crafty?

if it doesn't then you could play this fun game: cut a small hole in the top of the lid and have the child go and find something that will fit in the box and put the lid on. then you stick your hand in and see if you can figure out what it is. then you can go and find a little toy like a ball or something and see if he can figure it out.

  4. Do a diorama... Meaning do a scene in the box based on a  topic like underwater, etc.

  5. When I was a para for headstart, we had students make a special arts and crafts box.  They could decorate the box however they liked and it contained safety scissors, a box of crayons, etc for them to use on art projects.  Many kids don't have this kind of thing at home.

  6. How about asking the kids to do something akin to a diarama.  Have them cut out shapes or draw something, like a favorite scene or something...maybe what they want to do over the summer or what they do on the weekends...and have them glue it into the shoebox.

You could possibly have them do something related to a story they are reading or a subject they are learning about.

  7. make a guitar

  8. When I was in kindergarden or grade 1, I can't remember...we had to bring a shoe box to school and we painted the inside and painted different styerfoam balls and the teacher helped us hang them from the inside of the box and we made our own solar system.

It was pretty thrilling from what I can remember haha

  9. when i was younger, my teacher bought rubber bands of different colours, and looped them over the box. however, you must make little cut at the sides of the box to fit the rubber band.decocrate it and paint it, and base on what the child name it, it can be their really special instrutment.

  10. A "ME" box

    1. get a box and decorate the outside with pictures and descriptions about you.

    2. Fill it with five most important things..

    3. Share with the classmates.

p.s. i am in the 9th grade and if this helps you than maybe your students will enjoy it.

  11. Paint them like a house
