  1. Don't know about Canadian rules, but in USA they are not to call the individuals employment - that is harrassment and that can be stopped by notifying the company calling that if they persist they will be turned over to the authorities for harassment.


  2. I don't know about Canada, but here in the USA there isn't anything you can do other than to pass the callers on to the employee. If making or receiving personal calls is not permitted (check company policy), notify the employee of this. And if it happens again report it to the employee's supervisor or HR.

    Edit: Feline...it is legal for a debt collector to call the place of employment unless they have been told otherwise in writing.

  3. I'm going to also say that I don't know about Canadian laws, but you are the person who answers the phones, so just hang up!  Your supervisor, if they complain, will likely not care, because they are keeping you from getting to other calls and other work.
