We are teaching in our 2nd year (2 male teachers that are totally dedicated to thier work) for the year 2008-2009. I feel like we have the potential to be the best at what we do on a daily basis- (he speaks/teaches, gives students questions and have them respond with me floating around room helping out & I will speak/teach give students same question but with different words to hopefully reach those that did not understand it the first time and he will float around room...) My question is I would like to know if there is a school/program out there where I could earn my Specialist degree with the degree being about Co-Teaching in the classroom and finding out more in-depth strategies for it?

  1. I have not heard of any specific advanced degree programs about co-teaching.  Have you thought about looking for a program that focuses on Curriculum and/or Instruction so as to build your repertoire of strategies to use in the classroom with your co-teaching partner?

  2. In my school, the teachers who majored in special ed are seen as methods or strategy specialists, while the regular ed teachers in the room are content specialists.  Perhaps you want to look into special ed?

  3. That's a *very* specific topic for a degree.  If you really want to study and research issues surrounding co-teaching your best bet is to work on a PhD in curriculum and instruction, and focus your research and dissertation on that topic.
