I work for a security company... 1 of my boss's just called me and told me that my hours are now 8pm till 4am.

I typically work 9pm till 5am monday and tuesday. I also work 10pm till 6am thur, fri, sat. I have never had 1 call off. Everytime they have needed me, i go in to fill in. I'm always to work on time.

Anyway the guy Changed times since the client wants to change the hours. He also added that the main manager boss wants me to come in tomorrow at 10am to the office and speak to him 1 on 1. I asked, is there a problem? He said, i have a gag order, you'll have to come in and speak with him tomorrow at 10. I then said so tomorrow it's 8pm till 4am as well same place? (i'm scheduled at this place monday and tuesday's) and he said yes that's correct... Is there a chance i am going to get in trouble? Why would he confirm tomorrow is same time, if they had planned on firing me? So i don't think i am going to get fired. Right?

  1. You might be in trouble, you might not.  If he has a gag order, that suggests a legal situation, and they want what you saw on a past situation.  Whatever is being dealt with, you were probably one of the officers that handled it, now they want to know what you did and said.

As far as the rest of it...I seriously doubt there is anyone complaining about you.  I have seen this kind of thing before.  He is making things up and then saying other people said it, that way he has excuses later if he should fire you that he warned you all kinds of times.

This would be especially true if he had another officer (probably his assistant) there when he asked about these things like the microwave and so on.

I suggest you start looking for another job.  He's trying to drive you away.  Sooner or later he'll succeed, or he'll grow tired of waiting and take a chance and fire you; and just hope you don't follow through on legal action.  You can save yourself a lot of trouble if you go ahead and start looking elsewhere and get out of the bad situation.

At the very least, start writing down EVERYTHING.  Write down every time he says something stupid or mean to you, write down every time he lies, every complaint (especially if there is no written warning), etc.  This is a legal record that could be used in court if you do go to legal action.

But I still say looking for another job is your better option.

  2. You could be getting fired now a days offices designate one particular person to carry out the terminations  and other employees cannot speak about it to you (gag order).  Do you know if your immediate supervisor had to go to the meeting also or one of your HR reps.  if so, then that is a possible clue also.  If you have been a great employee, then you may have nothing to worry about.  maybe they want to offer you a promotion.
