I am a slow runner help!?

I am 14 years old about 5'4 110 pounds and I run very slow, help please, I want to improve over the summer for highschool

  1. do squats but be sure to stretch a lot  but stronger legs make u run faster and make sure u run every day do a few sprints untel u get tired will help


  2. There are lots of things you can do.

    - work on leg strengh  and flexibility, this will improve your stride....muscular strengh increases power in every step and flexibility increases stride length

    - run on your toes; alot of energy is wasted by lifting your whole foot every step which slows you down

    -be sure that you have correct form...arms should always be inbetween 90 and 120 degrees. Also run with opposites( when right leg is in front so is left arm)

    -If you are in track and using blocks come out at a 45 degree angle and gradually become upright

    -work on endurance even if your a sprinter...dont be fooled sprinting takes endurance also

  3. run on your toes,most slow running people run flat-footed

    you could also buy products that improve speed,like sparq training items or jumpsoles.are you going to play sports?

  5. What distance you run determines what kind of training you need to improve.

    If you are a sprinter then you must lift weights, and do plyometric exercises along with speed work.

    Middle distance runners should be doing endurance work to get stronger along with speed work so they can run at a faster pace.

    Distance runners must do lots of endurance work and some speed work so they can run at race pace.

    Start by running easy 3 days each week, doing 3 miles.

    That leaves you 2 or 3 days to work on your individual skill needs.

  6. Run more..Really, it's probably cause you aren't used to running and are out of shape.
