I am in the second year of my graduation in the Science stream but I would like to do some work for the upliftment of the underprivileged. Is it possible for me to do so without any qualification in the required field? If yes then please give me the addresses and telephone numbers of a few NGOs in Mumbai.I would be really thankful for the same.Hoping for some positive response.Thank you!

  1. I wanted to do this, but didn't have a degree in any field they were interested in.  But perhaps you could first get your foot in the door by volunteering with a particular NGO you like, and then they might allow you to do some type of paid work.  I have heard that sometimes they hire people without the qualifications if they've proved themselves first by volunteering.  Good luck.

  3. Many NGOs welcome the efforts of volunteers. Contact the UNDP office in Mumbai and ask them if they have a list of NGOs working in Mumbai, or if they know of such a list. Also try the Mumbai offices of Oxfam, Save the Children, CARE International and UNICEF for a list of NGOs in Mumbai, even just a list of organizations they work with there.

You need to identify what it is you want to do as a volunteer or as a staff member for these organizations. What skills do you have that would be of benefit to these organizations?
