  1. A credit card is a good place to start as long as you use it responsibly. Just remember to keep your balance low and make on time payments. This is the site that I found helpful. When you log on there is a panel on the left side, there is an options for student cards. Browse the offers and see which one you like the most and apply online. Good luck.

  2. It's usually not too hard to start credit as a student. Many banks have Student Credit Cards, with limits from $300-$500. If you have a checking account, go to that bank and see what kind of services they have for students. If you don't have a checking account, that's a good place to start. Banks like to see that you have checking and/or savings accounts. It only takes $100 to start an account.

If, for some reason, you cannot open a student account, you can get yourself a secure credit card, where you make a deposit and get to use that card. Long term, secure cards are for poor credit, but it's a good place for anyone to start.

If you don't currently owe anything, PLENTY of companies are going to want your business. Remember, you are a customer. They aren't doing YOU a favor, you are making THEM money-so don't be afraid to be picky.

The main thing with credit is consistency. Pay on time. Pay more than the minimum and in 6 months time, you'll have a good base of credit.

  3. The big question is do you have a part time job?  If you don't have a job, I don't think a credit card company will issue you a card without a parent co-signer. If you have a part time job, it is possible to get a student credit card with a small credit limit.

  4. bank of america has credit cards for students and has no anual fee and also has 0%apr for 12 months. and it will help you start your credit. payments of like $15 a month.
