  1. Howdy..There is a bald, overweight,  poor guy I know that can get a good deal on camera's.  He knows of the Canon Elph.  He may just send it to you.  Uh, don't get caught taking pictures in operating room...could be embarrassing..

  2. Hey, i didn't know they allowed cameras in the OR.

Anyway :), i'd love to help you..

Since you're a surgeon, and likely super-rich :), you should get a camera that is at least 329$, that can take videos and pictures in the operating room. I want to suggest the canon powershot s5IS, it's a great camera, and the video quality is beautiful, and can take stunning six megapixel stills, you're not going to be upset with this purchase.

that's the http://amazon.com link for the canon powershot s5Is, and i think you should get it from there too, you can save some money, and it's " brand new ".

Let's go over zoom of the perks of the S5IS camera.

    1) it has " image stabilization ", when means you can take low light pictures in the OR without having to worry to much about camera shake.

    2) it has eight megapixels- to capture the intensity of operations ( with stunning detail ).

    3) it has a 12x zoom, you can zoom in and out whilst recording, which isn't common on most cameras.

  3. Is this allowed by HIPAA?

That said, I've always had good luck with the Canon Powershot Digital Elphs.  I've owned 2, I just bought my second one now.  I had my other one for 5 years.  They are inexpensive, easy to use and have excellent quality.  I bought my current camera on Amazon for $160, 7 megapixels and a 3x zoom.  It has a huge LCD screen.  Canon in general is a reliable brand.

  4. I have had good luck with the Pentax Optio. The newer one is the W60. the one I have is an older modal a few years old.

What I like about it is that it's waterproof up to 20ft. I am a web developer/photographer. I have about 10K in my "pro" cameras/lenses, but when I was in Alaska doing a photo shoot for a flyfishing guide client - I used this little $250 camera for many shots. Here are some shots from that shoot.

It also does video. Here is an underwater video I shot on that same trip. http://youtube.com/watch?v=yh3nuT3qG4Y It's not a great video, but for underwater - not bad.

  5. I know how this works.

Get the most expensive one and let the hospital pay for it. If this is your practice, add it to the fees.
