  1. You would need to have your skills recognised by the Queensland College of Teachers for any type of teaching work in Queensland (public or private). You would then find work via Education Queensland's database. If you're a high school teacher (particularly in a science area), you shouldn't have any trouble finding contract and supply work (but not permanent work) but I believe that the opportunities for primary school teachers are not so good. I understand that we have a number of unemployed primary school teachers in our cities and you may need to go to a regional or remote area to find primary school work quickly. Pre-primary, primary and secondary teacher are all occupations on the Skilled Occupations List for immigration points, but I'm fairly sure that what I've said is correct about primary job opportunities.

See http://www.immi.gov.au/asri/a-z.htm#p for info on skills recognition requirements and procedures,

and http://www.immi.gov.au/skilled/index.htm for all other info. regarding immigration.

  2. Regional centres are calling out for teachers all over Aus, there are some great places that aren't cities so please keep an open mind and you will probably get work easier

  3. One place to start looking in the State Education system is: http://education.qld.gov.au/hr/recruitme...

However, many private schools also often employ British teachers.
