OK, so I'm a really picky eater, and I'm also a vegetarian. I don't like fruits (except apples, which I don't really like, but they're tolerable) I don't like almost any vegetables (except cucumbers with mayo, and artichokes with mayo, and broccoli with mayo; obviously i like mayo) I like bread and pasta. I don't like anything spicy or mushy. What can I eat????? I need some creative ideas, possibly of ways to make normal healthy food taste good. And by the way, it really needs to be healthy because I usually eat really unhealthy food and I want to stop. So please help me!!!!!

  1. oh wow. being veggie muct be tough for you.

you should try meat alternatives. in your regular grocery store you can find vegetarian chicken nuggets, hamburger patties, and chicken patties.

but if you have a health food store near you (my favorite is whole foods. they have a great variety.) they should have a much larger selection of meat alternatives. vegetarian buffalo wings, baby back ribs, ground beef- the ground beef is great to always have in your freezer. with it you can make tacos, add it in some spaghetti sauce to top that pasta you love so much.

and it all has about the same nutrients as regular meat, but it's actually even healthier for you. so you should check it out. =]

  2. That's great realising you're taking in unhealthy stuff. That's a good beginning.

    Try eating a different cuisine.

  3. fake meats?

    Mac and cheese?

    Sandwiches?

    Tacos..burritios.. Things like that.

Soup...maybe try lemon rice soup if you like rice?

    Chinese food..Like rice and noodles.

Hamburgers without meat? LIke a whopper with out meat? IDK.

  4. I would suggest keep trying new foods and vegetables. When I first went vegetarian I hated all vegetables besides, corn, broccoli and carrots. Over time my tastes changed and I began to like more veggies.

I also found that I like most vegetables cooked a certain way(lightly steamed), and if they are over cooked I do not like the taste. You should see if you like your veggies cooked a certain way. Experiment with cooking times, and see if that helps.

Some times it takes me eating the same vegetable numerous times before I actually like it. Most recently I found out I like zucchini, which I had tried before a few times and hated it. I also now like stuffed pepper, which was another recipe that I had tried about twice before and disliked, after fiddling with a recipe a bit I now enjoy it. Tastes change over time, so keep trying.

Vegetables and other foods I have added to my favorite list since becoming vegetarian... cauliflower, green beans, chickpeas, spinach, squash, mushrooms, peppers, onions, watermelon, cantaloupe, red grapes, etc. All these foods I didn't like and it took a few times and different ways of preparing to finally enjoy them. Now it is not uncommon for me to eat green beans, or cauliflower as a snack.

You may be a picky eater, but you should put that aside and at what you need to stay healthy. You may find that you are not as picky as you think and it is just that you are unwilling to try new things.

  5. Have you tried tofu? There's a great many tofu products that are made to look like meat. Veggie hamburgers, veggie hotdogs, etc....

Also, you could try more exotic fruits and veggies, you might happen across one or two that you do end up liking.

  6. What were you eating before you went veg?  Whether you're omni or vegetarian, you have to eat veggies and fruits.  Experiment with different seasonings and textures; often a matter of not liking veggies is not having them cooked right.  And if you like crudites, try them with hummus instead of mayo--hummus is a dip made from chickpeas, lemon, and tanini.  Chickpeas are a great source of iron, calcium, and protein.

  7. According to my godson, eggs are vegetables.

    Okay.

Try felafel's.  You can get them in stores that specialize in middle-eastern foods.  They're made from chickpeas, and you can put them in pocket bread with your cucumbers and mayo.

  8. You are going to have to eat some veggies and fruits or take supplements.  I suggest you experiment with soap and pasta recipes to see which cooked vegetables you want in them and which ones you really hate.

Even an animal protein diet doesn't let you get away from all vegetables and fruits, but it makes it easier.  Fewer calories.   You still need vitamin C, the B vitamins, etc.

  9. I am not sure what you exactly don't like about fruit and veggie.

If you doesn't like the texture of raw veggie, maybe cooked veggie the asian style with stir-fry sauce or tempura (veggie coated with flour and deep-fried), it might change make you like them.

Pasta with lots of home-made tomatoes sauce (use more fresh tomatoes and blend it till smooth), the veggie is hidden in the sauce.

    Vegetable creamy soup?

You could blend fruit or veggie with soy milk to make milkshake, and they taste different and maybe you would love it.   I just make strawberries tofu dessert, which taste like yoghurt (by blending strawberries, silken tofu with sugar till creamy and soft).

Fruit Juice? How about it? Watermelon juice is fresh and cooling. Mango Juice, Avocado with palm sugar and coconut milk is so deletable.
