2 years later, i'm starting back running again. I know i shouldn't start out intense but i do, forcing my self to do 5 mile runs. But i noticed now that only my left knee keeps giving me problems. It's not even soreness, the knee just hurts bad to the point where i'm limping. When i dont work out, the knee is fine, but only when i run. After a week, the pain is gone like it never existed but only comes up when i run. Should i just slow down or could it be something serious; do i need to go to a doctor? Anyone experienced this before?

  1. I have the same problem!

I can play basketball and football but when it comes to distance running my knee starts hurting after about a the three mile mark and it hurts bad like a constant stab of pain, so I went to the doctors and they said it was my meniscus so five times a day sit down and grab your foot for thirty seconds to stretch out your hamstrings(didn't work) so I started icing and ib profien* everyday after I ran and I iced it twice a day and low and behold it was over. So if you wanna be pain free ice it twice a day for fifteen minutes each and in about a week or two someone will be pain free!

  2. After years of not running you're bones/ligaments are not in shape to be running 5 miles. You have to re-train them to take the pounding, start out slower. It's never a bad idea to see a doctor.

  3. get better shoes or orthodics. when your running you shud do like a warm up mile first, then stretch , then run your preferable distance, then stretch again, and put ice on ur legs if it hurts.
