I am a victim of ID theft and the IRS kept part of my return and I don't know how to get it back. HELP!!!!!!!!

They used my ssn for employement and the irs used my refund money to pay for the taxes that they earnd. The ID theft thing is cleared up, but every time i call and ask about my money they give me a diffrent # to call and all i get is a mashine or another 1-800 number. I just dont know what to do, please someone help me!

  1. I would seriously think about getting an attorney to help you.


  2. Get the taxpayer advocate involved.

  3. What does IRS tell you to do?  That is the first step in clearing up the problem.

  4. Call the taxpayer advocate's office at 877-777-4778 and ask for help.  They are the IRS department to cut through red tape when you've tried but aren't succeeding.
