Can I use a little bit of powdered sugar to make up for it? Or brown sugar? I was thinking that might change the taste a bit. I also have apple sauce. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated! THANKS! :)

  1. Just leave the 1/4 cup out.  It won't affect your recipe/bake time at all.  Your cake will be just a smidge less sweet!

  2. It really depends on what the recipie is for.  Post a little more info so we can help out.

  3. brown sugar would work perfectly here! and it gives the pastry/sweet a VERY nice home-ey taste in my oppinion! it just sweetes the deal! i wouldnt use powdered sugar though. you could try it if you wanted!

    good luck it sounds delish!

  4. brown sugar would be the better option...powder sugars normally have cornstarch added,,,

  5. I think you'll be fine to just use what you have, it just might not be quite as sweet but 1/4 cup is not a lot and i don't think it will make a big difference. Brown sugar may work but powdered sugar won't.

  6. either brown sugar or forget about the 1/4 cup it wont change the recipe

  7. Brown sugar should work fine, and be a better substitute than powdered sugar, for yellow cake. Apple sauce can be a substitute for oil.
