  3. My moms mom was called nana and my dads mom is called memere or mem for short

  5. My kids call my mom Mamaw.

    I've heard others be called : Nana, MeeMaw, Granny, G-ma, MeeMa, Grammy, Gram, Grams, Nonny.

    Memaw (although I personally hate that one--it sounds so rednecky, like "Hee Haw")

    Oma (German for grandmother)

    Mama _____ (her first name or last name)

    Or you could just do what we did and see what your child ends up coming up with.

  7. Oh, I went through this with my mom when I got pregnant with my first child. She wasn't ready for the grandma name callin'. But let me tell you it didn't take long after my daughter was born for her not to care anymore and she has been grandma since. And I am giving her her third grandchild in December. She loves hearing her 3 and 5 year old grandkids calling her grandma now. So, just get used to it. You're a grandma and I really don't think any other name is going to sound very hip. God bless and congrats on your grandchild!

  9. well my chid is five and she calls my mom Nanny (my mom is 50) and my grandma mawmaw. She calls her dads mom mawmaw as well...my mom wanted to be called Nanna but yea my child called her Nanny from the time she started talkin so I hate to tell you but your child is gonna call her what she wants!

  10. My daughter calls my mom "Crazy". My mom used to call herself the crazy grandma and my daughter just picked up on the Crazy part of it. It's kind of cute and my mom doesn't mind. Maybe there will be a nick name that the 2 of you come up with.

  14. My mum had the same problem when my sister &brother had their kids!

    We came up with:

    Nana, Nanny, Nonna, Rana, Rand, Randy, Ranma, Gran, Grammy, Grana.

    She goes mainly by Rana/Randa.

  22. well my mom is a grandma at age 36 and hates the idea of being a gramma. but she wants to be called nana (we mexican lol) and my fiance mom wants to be called Mimi lol so i dunno  

  23. Congratulations! I read that article that someone here suggested you read and I like Gi-Gi. I don't blame you, I'm definitely not a Grandma type either. Hopefully I have a lot more time before that happens. You could also make something fun out of your first name.
