  1. Parakeets are really to small to eat  a lot of nuts, however, try to feed them lots of fresh fruits and vegetables, broccoli, spinach, apple, oranges, grapes-what's good for you is good for them.

NEVER FEEDS-chocolate, avocado, anything with caffeine, no dairy, there's a large list.

Had pet birds for over 20 years

  2. Try monkey nuts, pistachios, brazil, almonds, but only as a treat, nuts contain a lot of fat.

Never feed salted nuts. Certain nuts like pecans are polished and contain dyes, never feed these.

Nuts are a good source of phosphorous, potassium, vitamin A, zinc, folic acid, and many other essential vitamins and nutrients, but do contain fat, so feed in moderation.

  3. If you want to treat your parakeet, give them spray millet or millet spray (it goes by various names).  They love it!

  4. check out http://www.parrotcentral.net/parakeets.h... for good parakeet info and guides   goodluck and congrats!

  5. many parakeets will eat just about anything.  I would give it normal parakeet and small bird seed for its staple diet.  But, for a snack, give it some popcorn, pasta, cheerios, crackers, etc.

I never give my parrots too many nuts, as they are pretty high in protein.  But most things are good in moderation.  Heck, my birds even eat ice-cream.

  6. ok i have two parakeets and have had  them more than 5 years now, the only things i feed them is water (you want to put in a little container) and this bird food that comes in a orange box that says PREMIUM on the left of the box, it also says  PARAKEET canary and finch nutritonally complete blend, its  vitamin and minaral enriched
