First thing is to hire a great tax attorney and then look for some great financial planners. Not the financial planners associated with a stock company or an insurance company, but one that is independent and can give you an opinion not based on a particular company's products.

Diversify. Keep some here in the states and put some in a European bank for safety and a hedge against the falling dollar. Put some in stocks for aggressive growth and others in money market securities for stability. If you need more advice, just contact me. I used to be a financial planner a few years back.

I think you will not be able to do anything with it yet if you are only 16.  You may have to wait until you are 18.  I may be wrong though.
