  1. just stop ******* smoking. after the first week its easy. unless you live with smokers, or a lot of the people you know smoke. the gum, and all that junk, is a waste of money.

  6. so was I till my lungs collapsed and double pneumonia and I quit the week before that happened and I  was in  intensive care for 9 days,high dependency for 2 weeks and took a while to be better.I walk 5 ks a day now,am 55 kios 168 cms tall and never felt better in my life.I eat better,skin is fantastic and legs do not ache...I DONT WANT TO DIE,as lost a sister to Lung cancer 57,my father 73  step brother 68 mother to cancer.I want to survive to see my old age.Just quit it is easy....................................... will NEVER ever smoke again and I was  60 a day girl...........I was an ADDICT and quit...........do it.

  8. If you really want to stop, you will. However, no ammount of patches or preventatives will help, unless you really want to.

    I just stopped, cold turkey, no support groups, and succeeded, because I wanted to stop... there is no other way!

  9. It won't be easy and it will be one of the most uncomfortable things in you life. You will get shivers and feel sicker than when you are actually smoking, but when you get past it you will feel wonderful. You need to buy lots of nicotine free gum and chew it constantly. This will help deal with the urge to smoke. You need to find a support group. Get a few friends or family that can be around you most of the day to make sure you don't relapse back into smoking. Find meetings where people talk about their addictions if you start to feel alone in your struggle. Seeing that others are going through the same thing you are and still avoiding ciggarettes can also help. My final word of advice is that no matter what you do, YOU SHOULD NEVER USE ANOTHER DRUG AS A SUBSTATUTE FOR SMOKING!!!!!! Stay strong and know that on the other side of the c**p you will go through is a better and brighter day.

  12. You could try to quit cold turkey, but that's easier said than done. I'm currently on a medication that is actually working for me. I went to Kaiser and my doctor prescribed Bupropion. I took one tablet a day for a month and a half and I no longer crave those death sticks. Nicotine gums or patches may work, but Bupropion worked for me. There's always help to quit smoking. You just got to accept that help. Whatever that help is, don't give up on it. Give it a try and you'll be glad you did.

  15. It's hard.  All you really need is will power.  The first week will be hard.  But once you get through the first week, you know your body can survive without the nicotine and the craving is all in your mind.
