I do not know the adoption agency I came from, but I do have my adoption paperworks. Some of it is in English and some of it is in Korean. I do have the name of my birth mother, birth grandparents, and birth aunts. I know their addresses and their birthdates. I have some other information as well, so if you need anything from me to help me find my birth mother, please help me! I really want to find her. I am very proud to be Korean and I just want to know more about my background history, etc. I hope she is looking for me too. Can someone please help me? Thank you. :)

  1. I understand your desire to connect with your birth family, but be prepared for a rejection.  In Korea, boys are favored more than girls.  If your mother was young when she had you, she may not have been married.  If that was the case, she probably has not told her current family about you.  She may even deny every having a child prior to her marriage.

I hate to discourage you, but I lived with a Korean student during college.  This is the same thing she told all the Korean adoptees in your situation that she was helping.

  2. Try contacting the Korean Embassy or something like that and give additional information how old are you right now? If you maybe give them information they maybe able to assist you

  3. You said you have the address? I would maybe try writing her and see what happens. It's possible the address will have changed since it was put on your adoption paperwork, but it's worth a try. Even if she moved, they may be able to forward the letter to where she lives now. If you know the area of S.Korea you were adopted in, you could also try writing the local courthouse or hospital there and they may be able to help you.

A website that helped me was adoption.com. One of my brothers found me on that website and we were reunited that way. But that only works if your mom is looking for you too. Anyway, try anything and everything, it takes a while, and a lot of patience, but you'll be happy once you figure everything out. Good Luck!

  4. 1) Try sites like Reunion.com or any other locating sites...

    2) Hire a detective?

  5. Hiya angelolori,

Have a good look through this blog -

    http://harlowmonkey.typepad.com/harlows_...

Written by a Korean adoptee - she has many many links all up and down each side  - I'm sure you will find something there to help you with your search.

There are many groups of Korean adoptees - you are definatley not alone.

I wish you all the very best with your search.
