...and I would like to know what brand of kitten, wet and dry, food do you think is best? Also, what kind of toys should I buy for him? And if you have any other information or tips that would be helpful, that would be great. THANKS!! :]

  1. To start with I stick to whatever they were fed on when I get them, I then slowly change them to whatever I want to feed them (usually what my other cat/s are being fed). This stops them reacting to a sudden change in diet and getting upset stomachs.

The best type of food to feed is one that fits your lifestyle! Mine have open access to dry food - not always the same brand either, and then they get a tin of food (whatever we pick up, but not the real cheap stuff - thats just nasty) about once a fortnight, sometimes once a week, but not very often.

The last kitten I had actually defied this, and within 2 days of having her she decided that she was quite happy with the biscuits, thank you very much, and stopped eating the kitten meat!

As for toys - Toffee is quite happy with a piece of string dragged around the floor, a screwed up till receipt or a bell off an old cat collar - she doesn't take much pleasing! Smudge, on the other hand, wants nothing more than a lap to sit on, but then she is getting to be an old lady these days.

  2. I adopted one of my cats too.   um... use this site http://cats.about.com/od/catfoo1/tp/kitt... for food ideas.   As for toys, i would go with the fluffy toys, or the ones with feathers, or bells.   Extra tips:   Be careful when handling them, and also pay attention to her cleaning habits, if they are very young they dont learn to clean themselves.   HAVE FUN!!

  3. I'm not sure about food but for toys definitely a scratching post and maybe a little kitty house with two floors because they like to climb... Hanging toys are also an option because you've seen the movies where cats are playful and then like to play with those things. To help make you're kitty less bored you could also hide food around the house since they are natural hunters so they can find their own food. Just a fun thing... put a carpet on the wall and cats can climb up it using their sharp claws... unless you are getting a kitten without a tail because they use their tails for balance that's how they always land on their feet and if they fall from the carpet they could get injured! Give your cat toys that it can chase around...those are always fun! Hope I helped, have fun with your new kitten!
