  1. Hi,

Rule number one: RELAX... you can retake the SAT's or ACT's as many time as necessary... if you do retake them only the best scores counts.  i did REALLY bad the first time i took the ACT's but the second time i did better.  Also they have study programs for as cheap as 10-20 dollars to help you prep and may help.

I do know they make special allowances for learning disabilities so find out if you can take it in your native language.  Ask your guidance councilor or do a search and find the web sights.

    Relax and good luck

  2. don't worry you can take it over as many times as you want but you have to pay for it. sometimes they have programs where you can take it for free so ask your school for free places to take it

  3. sat consist of reading, writing and math. 800 points each.

in order to get a higher score study, get a tutor, buy a sat pratice guide book.

don't be afraid, you don't need to score the 2300 to get into college. most people score like 1000 to 1400 only and colleges accept them

  4. Stay positive and don't be afraid of the SAT. I've tutored and known many of my students who only came to the States for 3-4 years or less and all of them aced the exam and are now attending top 50 schools in the nation.

The key is dedication and perseverance. If money is not an issue, I would suggest you finding a qualified and experienced tutor to help you out and get you start studying for the SAT right now. Hiring a tutor is the best scenario you can have, because he or she can pinpoint your strengths and weaknesses, and really help you start building your vocabulary, help you with writing, and teach you strategy on the math portion.

If you can't afford a tutor, I would suggest you to buy some reference SAT books at the bookstore or even borrow them for free from your local library. Whenever you get a chance, read as many books as you can--reading comprehension is very important.  Furthermore, you need to set a goal to memorize vocabulary so you have a solid foundation.

Most importantly, practice as many problems/mock exams as you can and stay positive!

Good luck! Don't be discouraged and contact me if you want more study tips!

  5. Well, if it makes you feel any better, SAT scores aren't really a huge part of whether or not you get into a college or university anymore.  Sure they might factor into the decision a little bit but now most colleges/universities look more at your grades, extracurricular activites (after school programs, clubs, sports), and your essay for the actual application.  As for brushing up on your English, you could see if there are any tutors at your high school that can help you out in order to prepare for the tests. Good Luck!
